Les images du duo d'artistes Taiyo Onorato & Nico Krebs oscillent entre l'optimisme propre à leur enfance et un présent teinté de dystopie. Dans leur série Future Memories (2021), ils cherchent à comprendre comment la représentation du ciel et la notion d'avenir qui l'accompagne ont changé au fil du temps, et tentent ainsi de lui trouver un nouveau langage visuel. En combinant des photographies argentiques grand format, issues de leurs archives personnelles, avec une technologie laser contrôlée par ordinateur, ils créent des images proches de la science-fiction. Ce faisant, ils nous rappellent que l'imaginaire futuriste s'enracine toujours dans un collage d'images du passé.

Nés en 1979 respectivement à Zurich et à Winterhur en Suisse, Taiyo Onorato et Nico Krebs ont étudié la photographie à la Haute école des arts de Zurich et travaillent ensemble depuis 2003. Leurs oeuvres ont été présentées dans de nombreuses expositions personnelles, au Fotomuseum Winterthur, au Foam Amsterdam et au KINDL - Centre d'art contemporain de Berlin. En 2011, ils ont reçu le Swiss Design Award for Photography. Taiyo Onorato vit à Zurich, Nico Krebs vit à Vyhne, en Slovaquie et à Zurich.


The images of artist duo Taiyo Onorato & Nico Krebs oscillate between the optimism of their childhood and a dystopian-tinged present. In their series Future Memories (2021), they explore the question of how the view of the sky and the accompanying notion of the future has changed over time and attempt to find a new visual language for it. Using a combination of large-format analog photographs from their own photo archive and various digitally controlled laser technologies, they create images that release associations with science fiction worlds. At the same time, they confront us with the fact that every imagination and illustration of the future is always a collage of images from the past. 

Taiyo Onorato (*1979 in Zurich, CH) & Nico Krebs (*1979 in Winterthur, CH) studied photography at the Zurich University of the Arts and have been working together since 2003. Their works have been presented in numerous solo exhibitions, such as Fotomuseum Winterthur, Foam Amsterdam and KINDL - Center for Contemporary Art Berlin. In 2011 they received the Swiss Design Award for Photography. Taiyo Onorato lives in Zurich, Nico Krebs lives in Vyhne, Slovakia and in Zurich.
