Does it exist prior to the images? Does it arise while the images are being made, or does it take hold long afterwards? And to what extent do elements such as chance or encounters influence this process? A hybrid, open-ended object, halfway between the novel and the cinema, the photography book has enabled many photographers to find a new creative space, away from the magazine, the gallery or the showroom. A place freed from the simple function of archiving, in which the photographer can control all the parameters (printing, layout, rhythm and format of the images, choice of paper, typography, etc.) &#8211; allowing him or her to claim more than ever an authorial approach.<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb <br \/>\nNicolas B\u00e9zard<\/p>\n<p class=\"offsetted with_color_diamond\"><span class=\"theme_color\"><strong>Saturday June 6\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"offsetted with_arrow\"><strong>14h30<\/strong>, <span class=\"small\">EN\/FR<\/span> : <span class=\"theme_color\"><em>From Exhibition to Book: Developing a Narrative<\/em><\/span>, talk between Tiago Casanova, photographer and editor of XYZ Books, and Nicolas B\u00e9zard, journalist<\/p>\n<p class=\"offsetted\"><em><span class=\"small\">On the occasion of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biennale-photo-mulhouse.com\/2026en\/which-way-the-wind-blows-tiago-casanova\/\">his exhibition at the Saint-Jean Chapel<\/a>, Tiago Casanova explores the parallels that may exist between presenting photographs in a physical space and in a book. Drawing on his dual experience as an artist and a publisher, he discusses the role of the photo book in his work.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"offsetted with_arrow\"><strong>15h<\/strong>, <span class=\"small\">EN\/FR<\/span> : \u00a0<span class=\"theme_color\"><em>About Bernard Guillot<\/em><\/span>, talk bewteen Ilias Georgiadis (editor, Origini Edizioni), Patrick Le Bescont (editor Filigranes) and Fabien Ribery (art critic)<\/p>\n<p class=\"offsetted\"><em><span class=\"small\">A discreet figure in French photography who passed away in 2021, Bernard Guillot created a body of work that straddled the real and the spiritual. In 2003, \u00c9ditions Filigranes published his book <\/span><\/em><span class=\"small theme_color\">Le Pavillon Blanc<\/span><em><span class=\"small\">, which received the Nadar Prize. His work on the Jewish Cemetery in Cairo was published in 2024 by Origini Edizioni under the title<\/span><\/em><span class=\"small theme_color\"> La Cit\u00e9 des Morts<\/span><em><span class=\"small\">. His publishers, Patrick Le Bescont and Ilias Georgiadis, reflect on the photographer\u2019s work.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"offsetted with_arrow\"><strong>16h30<\/strong>,<span class=\"small\"> FR<\/span> : <span class=\"theme_color\"><em>Family Albums, a Different Approach<\/em><\/span> : talk between Pauline Hisbacq (photographer, editor of September books), Fran\u00e7ois Jonquet (photographer) and Fabien Ribery (art critic)<\/p>\n<p class=\"offsetted\"><em><span class=\"small\">In his first book, <\/span><\/em><span class=\"small theme_color\">Forage<\/span><em><span class=\"small\">, published by Void in 2023, Fran\u00e7ois Jonquet reassembles two decades of images from his family\u2019s daily life. They create, publish, and exhibit books centered on photography. Its founder, Sangyon Joo, is also an artist and the director of the Datz Museum. Curated, designed, and produced by a circle of photography devotees &#8211; fanatics, mavericks, and eccentrics &#8211; the project is envisioned as a kind of concept album.
