Polukord passe par la performance et la photographie pour d\u00e9noncer les ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes de d\u00e9forestation massive et se moque de l&rsquo;humain qui d\u00e9truit les arbres en les transformant en pi\u00e9destaux de monuments \u00e9rig\u00e9s \u00e0 sa gloire. Polukord uses performance and photography to evoke the phenomena of massive deforestation and mocks mankind for destroying trees and turning them into pedestals for monuments to its own glory. Habourdin draws inspiration from the discoveries of an 18th-century French ecclesiastical botanist, Desbiey, to reflect on the future of Nida&rsquo;s dunes and forests in Lithuania.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"theme_color\"><strong>Event organised as part of the Season of Lithuania in France 2024 in partnership with the Lithuanian Photographers Association, and in co-production with MAC- Mulhouse Art Contemporain.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Andrej Polukord<\/h2>\n<p>Andrej Polukord se met p\u00e9rilleusement en sc\u00e8ne au sommet de troncs d&rsquo;arbres abandonn\u00e9s par les exploitants et les braconniers responsables des d\u00e9forestations massives en cours dans son pays. Pris au moyen format, ses portraits le montrent perch\u00e9 tel une statue \u00e0 la fois h\u00e9ro\u00efque et ridicule, d\u00e9non\u00e7ant dans un geste humoristique et mordant l&rsquo;humain qui d\u00e9truit la nature pour sa propre satisfaction. Il \u0153uvre \u00e0 l\u2019intersection de la photographie, de la performance et du ready made. Jouant avec les th\u00e8mes de la glorification et du sacrifice, les \u0153uvres de Polukord r\u00e9sonnent avec l&rsquo;environnement particulier de la chapelle Saint-Jean.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>N\u00e9 \u00e0 Vilnius en 1990, Andrej Polukord \u0153uvre \u00e0 l\u2019intersection de l\u2019installation, de la performance, de la photographie et de la vid\u00e9o. Dipl\u00f4m\u00e9 de l\u2019acad\u00e9mie des Beaux-Arts de Vienne en 2015, il est cor\u00e9cipiendaire du prix de la Kunsthalle de Vienne en 2016, puis invit\u00e9 en 2017 \u00e0 participer au programme culturel Rupert. \u00c9laborant des environnements impr\u00e9visibles et des situations absurdes, cr\u00e9ant doubles-sens et ambigu\u00eft\u00e9s, il explore avec humour et sens de l\u2019aventure des th\u00e8mes tels que l\u2019\u00e9cologie et l\u2019activit\u00e9 de l\u2019humain dans la nature. S\u2019appuyant \u00e9galement sur les cultures vernaculaires et les r\u00e9cits mythologiques, son processus cr\u00e9atif m\u00eale critique des institutions et mise-en-sc\u00e8ne de soi. Andrej Polukord vit et travaille \u00e0 Vilnius et Vienne.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"theme_color\"><em>Andrej Polukord perilously stages himself atop tree trunks abandoned by the operators and poachers responsible for the massive deforestation underway in his country. Taken in medium format, his portraits show him perched like a statue both heroic and ridiculous, denouncing in a humorous and biting gesture the sacrifice of nature by man for his self-satisfaction. He works at the intersection of photography, performance and ready-made. Playing with themes of glorification and sacrifice, Polukord&rsquo;s works resonate with the particular environment of Saint-Jean Chapel.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"theme_color\"><em>Andrej Polukord (b. Vilnius, 1990) uses installation, performance, photography and video. A 2015 graduate of the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, he was co-recipient of the Kunsthalle Vienna Prize in 2016, then invited in 2017 to take part in the Rupert cultural program. Developing unpredictable environments and absurd situations, creating double meanings and ambiguities, he explores themes such as ecology and human activity in nature with humor and a sense of adventure. Drawing also on vernacular cultures and mythological narratives, his creative process blends critique of institutions and self-staging. Le travail pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 est le r\u00e9sultat d&rsquo;une r\u00e9sidence \u00e0 Nida, r\u00e9alis\u00e9e au printemps 2024. Inspir\u00e9 par les recherches des fr\u00e8res Desbiey sur la fixation des dunes (vers 1760-1774), il prend la forme d\u2019une installation, r\u00e9alis\u00e9e \u00e0 partir d\u2019une photographie prise dans les dunes de l&rsquo;isthme de Courlande, fragment\u00e9e et imprim\u00e9e en s\u00e9rigraphie sur du lin de Lituanie teint aux pigments naturels d&rsquo;immortelles, de fleurs de garance, d\u2019artichaut et de cosmos. Le caract\u00e8re vibrant et fragile de l&rsquo;image refl\u00e8te la situation de notre nature, amen\u00e9e \u00e0 dispara\u00eetre sous nos yeux.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>N\u00e9e en 1985 dans le nord de la France, L\u00e9a Habourdin a d\u2019abord \u00e9tudi\u00e9 l\u2019estampe \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole Estienne puis la photographie \u00e0 l\u2019ENSP d\u2019Arles. Attentive \u00e0 la diversit\u00e9 des formes de vie, sa pratique veut dessiner d\u2019autres mani\u00e8res d\u2019entrer en r\u00e9sonance avec le vivant. Elle observe le rapport que nous entretenons aux autres animaux, aux paysages et convoque les notions de survie, de fracture, de reconstruction pour composer un r\u00e9cit autour de ce que nous appelons \u00ab le sauvage \u00bb. Explorant des champs tels que l\u2019\u00e9thologie, la recherche en science appliqu\u00e9e ou encore la botanique, elle d\u00e9ploie un travail en dessin et photographie o\u00f9 la place du livre et l\u2019objet imprim\u00e9 est cruciale.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"theme_color\"><em>French artist L\u00e9a Habourdin has long had a special relationship with Lithuania, which she has visited on several occasions. The work presented here is the result of a residency in Nida in the spring of 2024. Inspired by the Desbiey brothers&rsquo; research on dune fixation (circa 1760-1774), the installation is based on a photograph taken in the dunes of the Curonian Spit, fragmented and printed on Lithuanian linen previously dyed using natural pigments of everlasting flowers, as well as flowers of cosmos, garance and artichoke.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"theme_color\"><em>Born in 1985 in northern France, L\u00e9a Habourdin first studied printmaking at the Estienne school, then photography at the ENSP in Arles. Attentive to the diversity of life forms, her practice aims to draw other ways of resonating with living things. She observes our relationship with other animals and landscapes, and draws on notions of survival, fracture and reconstruction to compose a narrative around what we call \u00ab\u00a0the wild\u00a0\u00bb. At present, the organisation unites about 300 professional photographers.\u00a0As young and promising photographers began to exhibit their work as early as the late 1960s, the creation of an organisation of photographers and the necessity of training specialists began to be discussed with growing interest. With the establishment of the Lithuanian Society of Art Photography, thematic, historical, collective, personal, retrospective, genre and other exhibitions began to be organised. Lithuanian photography exhibitions started appearing abroad. To this day, actively participating in exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad remains one of the most important tasks of this organisation.\u00a0In 1971, the Lithuanian Society of Art Photography expanded when branches in Kaunas, \u0160iauliai and Panev\u0117\u017eys were founded. The Vilnius Photography Gallery opened its doors in 1973, and in 1979, Kaunas Photography Gallery began its exhibiting activities. Based on the Lithuanian Society of Art Photography, the Lithuanian Photographers Association was established in 1989. In 2000, the association opened the Prospekto Gallery, also dedicated to exhibiting and promoting the art of photography.\u00a0Publishing is one of the priority areas of the Lithuanian Photographers Association. The almanac \u00ab\u00a0Lithuanian Photography\u00a0\u00bb is compiled and published annually, the magazine \u00ab\u00a0Photography\u00a0\u00bb is published semi-annually, and exhibition catalogues, monographs and albums are published as well.\u00a0In addition to publishing and organising exhibitions, the Lithuanian Photographers Association devotes a lot of attention to education. An annual photography seminar in Nida has been held since 1973. Lectures, meetings with artists, discussions and book presentations are organised in the context of the exhibitions.
