Dorothée Baumann (CH)

Pleasure Arousal Dominance  et photos d’aura vision

In his last work Pleasure Arousal Dominance (2011), Dorothée Baumann documents the establishment and development of the new center for fundamental research in neuroscience, Brain & Behaviour Laboratory (BBL) headed by the University of Geneva, officially opened in 2009 . The artist noted place for three years, which enabled him to become acquainted with the researchers and their work tools and become familiar with the results of their research. In this survey, the artist applies to collect documents. It is not to bring the realities disjointed – art and science – or to reveal the world of basic science, but his authority to move first. His artistic practice meets two requirements: the investigation and experience. It works according to the context in which it confronts and takes into account the qualities and characteristics of a place, its geography, economic tensions, political and social will play.

Dorothée Baumann is a visual artist who primarily uses the photographic medium. She lives and works in Geneva and Bienne since 2006. She is teaching photography in Communication sector visual HEAD since 2009, and was a member of the NEAR (Swiss association for contemporary photography) at its founding in 2009/2010.
